§ 66-48. Charges for abatement and spraying costs.

  • (a)

    The entire cost of abating any public nuisance or of spraying any diseased tree or part shall be levied as a special charge against the parcel or lot upon which such tree stands, pursuant to Wis. Stats. § 66.60(16). The cost of abating such nuisance or spraying any diseased tree or part which is located upon any park, street, alley, terrace, boulevard, parkway or other public grounds, shall be borne by the village.

    (b)

    The forester shall keep account of the costs of work done under this section. He shall report monthly to the treasurer all work done for which special charges are to be made, stating the description of the lots, parts of lots or parcels of land and the amounts chargeable to each. The treasurer shall include in his report to the board the aggregate amounts chargeable to each lot or parcel reported to him. Before such special charges are entered on the tax roll, the board shall hold a public hearing on the proposed special charges and shall give advance notice not less than 14 days before such hearing by publication in the official newspaper.
